This is something we have been working on for a long time behind the scenes. Indigo dyeing was never this easy!
What's in the box?
- Bottle of 250 grams organic indigo paste made from Indigofera longeracemosa. Grown and processed for DekelDyes in Indonesia, never dried!
- Sachet of alkaline ph adjuster
- Sachet of reducer (sodium hydrosulphit) to prepare your vat.
- Printed instructions.
Ingredients of the indigo paste;
- Indigotin 10-15 %
- Water 65-80%
- Other Organic Material & CaCO3 10-20%
Instructions for use;
1. For deep blue: Put 2.5 liters of clean water (40 degrees Celsius) into a bucket.
2. Add the soda ash, stir until dissolved
3. Put 250g of the BlueGold paste into the bucket.
4. Stir until the solution looks homogeneous
5. Finally, enter the reducing agent / hydrosulfite, stir until dissolved and evenly distributed, pay attention to the color of the solution, it will change from blue to green.
Cover the bucket and leave it for 30-60 minutes, after that the indigo vat is ready for use.
How to dye: submerge wetted cloth in the indigo vat for 5 minutes, dip, drain and stretch. The color of the cloth will change, from green to blue after it reacts with air (oxidised).
Repeat the dyeing process several times to get the desired color tone.
