Oh dear, just when you thought it could not get any softer...Or luxurious! 45% cashmere 50% merino wool 5% silk. The same generous large size you love so much about our 100% wool scarves, but cashmere. What a treat.
Cashmere is a protein fiber obtained from cashmere goats or pashmina goats. It has been used to make yarn, textiles and clothing for hundreds of years. The word cashmere is an anglicisation of Kashmir, which is where these scarves are woven for me.
Thank you Jeanne Emerson for the beautiful work you did on this, it is stunning!
Red shawl by Martha Gebert; Alum, cochineal and almost exhausted logwood blankets in a “sandwich”, mostly fresh spring leaves dipped in iron water. Steamed 2.5 hours.
