Our premium sappanwood extract is certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) for use on organic textiles, ensuring both quality and sustainability. Sourced from renewable, sustainably managed forests in India, this extract is derived from the heartwood of Caesalpinia sappan, also known as Eastern Brazilwood.
 
Color & Dye Properties
The primary pigment in sappanwood, Brazilin, produces a stunning range of colors—from warm reds and pinks to rich oranges—depending on the pH of your dye bath.
 
How to Use
Dosage: Use at 5–10% WOF (weight of fiber).
Yield: 100 grams of extract dyes approximately 1.5 kg of fabric.
Preparation: Dissolve the extract in hot water and heat just below a simmer before adding your fiber.
Mordanting:
Alum for bright reds
Copper for deeper shades like dark red, plum, and wine
